Our Road Safety Audit Work continues to take us across the UK:

Stage 3 Road Safety Audit - Ineos Access Road, Runcorn - Provision of a new priority junction and associated footway improvements.

Stage 1/2 Road Safety Audit - Sainsbury's Distribution Depot, Grenwich, London - Proposed improvements to large distribution depot including dedicated HGV access/egress and separate staff vehicle and pedestrian entrance.

Stage 3 Road Safety Audit - Sainsbury's, Whitby, North Yorkshire - New traffic signal junction and safety improvements to existing large layby.

 

October 2012

six:TEN Highways & Traffic continue to assist Knowsley Council with their 25 year street lighting and traffic sign PFI project.  In addition, we have also provided expertise with regard to general traffic sign and road marking design, in particular, the design of several new cycle routes and freight routes.

Some recent Road Safety Audit work we have carried out includes:

Stage 3 Road Safety Audit - Sainsbury's Carlisle - Provision of new traffic signal junction and upgrade of existing traffic signals for access to a new supermarket.

Stage 1 Road Safety Audit and Independent Road Safety Assessment - Sainsbury's Thornton, Blackpool - Proposed upgrade of existing 3-arm roundabout and new access road to supermarket and petrol station. 

Independent Road Safety Assessment - Hauxton, Cambridge - Commissioned by Vectos, this assessment was provided to assist with a planning application for a new traffic signal junction providing access to and from a proposed residential development.

 

August 2012

six:TEN Highways & Traffic have recently completed the design of temporary traffic management in accordance with Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual for Askam Construction to allow the safe removal of a tower crane adjacent to the A6 in Lancaster.

We continue to carry out numerous road safety audits for various clients across Great Britain,. including:

Stage 1/2 Road Safety Audit - Metz Way, Gloucester - Provision of a new three arm traffic signal junction to access a proposed retail development.

Stage 1 Road Safety Audit - Colchester North - Planning stage of a large scale residential and commercial development including new access roads, new traffic signal and roundabout junctions and improvements to existing road layout.

Stage 1 Road Safety Audit - Stonebridge Mills, Leeds - Conversion of existing four arm roundabout into a traffic signal junction, as well as the provision of new signallised junction to access proposed supermarket development.

 

June 2012

In this Olympic year, six:TEN Highways & Traffic have played a part in ensuring that the Olympic Flame Torch Relay ran smoothly, designing effective temporary traffic management to allow a 5000 strong crowd to access and egress the Knowsley Safari Park Olympic Torch event safely via the busy A58 Prescot Bypass. We ensured that contingencies were in place along the torch relay route so that if instructed, temporary traffic management could be quickly installed to safely allow the torch bearer to continue their journey through Knowsley.

Our Director, Jon Preston was pleased to attend the annual, two day SoRSA Conference, including a 'Legal Issues Workshop' and an 'Ask The Experts' panel session on the first day.  The second day consisted of a full days conference, of various topics including road side protection, street lighting switch off and the traffic signs review.  For more information on the Conference, please click here to visit the SoRSA website.

We continue to assist Knowsley Council with the introduction of Civil Parking Enforcement across the Borough. This includes the re-design of existing parking restriction signs and road markings, ensuring that they conform with current regulations.

 

March 2012

six:TEN Highways & Traffic continue to work along side a Local Government Authority in conjunction with their 25 year street lighting and traffic sign PFI.  As the contract has progressed, six:TEN Highways & Traffic has increased its involvement in the overall Project Management of the PFI.

In addition, we have been extensively involved in various Traffic Management and Road Safety Schemes, some of which include:

Huyton Village, Merseyside - Traffic sign and road marking design for the introduction of disabled parking bays, ambulance bays and loading areas.

Wood Road, Halewood - AutoCAD traffic sign design for proposed 20mph limit/zone scheme.

Seth Powell Way, Huyton, Merseyside - Traffic signal junction improvement and road marking design, including additional right turn lanes and advanced cycle stop lines.

A580 East Lancashire Road - Detailed design for the improvement of existing pedestrian and cyclist facilities.

 

January 2012

six:TEN Highways & Traffic were busy over the festive period, completing numerous Road Safety Audits accross the UK, including:

Stage 3 Road Safety Audit - Hive Leisure Park, Widnes - New access from existing roundabout, including pedestrian access routes.

Stage 1 Road Safety Audit - Flowers Lane, Crewe - Proposed access to new housing development and improvements to existing roundabout.

Stage 1/2 Road Safety Audit - Weston Road, Stafford - Upgrading existing 3-arm priority junction to 4-arm traffic signal controlled junction.

 

November 2011

six:TEN Highways & Traffic continue to assist a Local Government Authority with a large scale Street Lighting and Traffic Sign PFI, whilst also providing legal and professional advice to the Authority with regards to the introduction of Civil Parking Enforcement across the Borough.  This includes the location and design of traffic signs, the condition of existing road markings and ensuring that they conform with current regulations to enable the parking restrictions to be legally enforced.

 

October 2011

six:TEN Highways & Traffic have completed the design of numerous Local Authority Safety Schemes, including:

M62 Junction 5/Roby Road Roundabout - On-carriageway cycle lane and junction improvement scheme.

Wood Lane, Huyton, Merseyside - Route Safety and AIP scheme including junction improvements, road markings and traffic signs.

We are continuing to carry out various Road Safety Audits across the UK

Interim Stage 3 & Stage 3 Road Safety Audit - Kemplay Bank Roundabout, Penrith - Full signalisation and widening of existing roundabout on the A66 Trunk Road.

Stage 1 Road Safety Audit - Streethay, Lichfield - Audit of two options for a new access onto a proposed residential development on the A38/A5127 junction.  Option 1: Four arm roundabout and Option 2: Traffic signal junction.

August 2011

six:TEN Highways and Traffic have been commissioned to carry out a number of Road Safety Audits across the UK. 

These include: 

Stage 1 Road Safety Audit - Wetherby, North Yorkshire - New signalised access to proposed supermarket.

Stage 1/2 Road Safety Audit - Runcorn, Cheshire - New housing development, carriageways, footways and parking areas.

Stage 3 Road Safety Audit - Bury, Greater Manchester - Large scale town centre redevelopment scheme, including office, retail, leisure units and extensive public landscaping.

As of June 2011, six:TEN Highways and Traffic have been assisting a Local Government Authority with a large scale Street Lighting and Traffic Sign PFI.  Commissioned by Waterman Aspen, we are providing expertise in aspects of traffic sign design and location.  We are also assisting the client with general traffic engineering schemes.
